DIOR Autumn-Winter 2020-2021
Two statements relate to Dior's presentation of its Haute Couture line for Autumn-Winter 2020-2021:It is either superbly lyrical or completely irrelevant. I enjoyed every single moment of Matteo Garrone's dreamy storytelling and Maria Grazia Chiuri's exquisite attention to detail. But I kept wondering: Should I even keep watching this film?... It all seemed so irrelevant to what is happening all around us.
Challenge me!
I found the film very beautiful. And I liked that they emphasized the craftsmanship that makes haute couture happen. One thought I had throughout the presentation was that none of the designs were new or innovative in any way. I will agree with you then that maybe the time for that sort of fashion is gone particularly when presented in the context of the myth that wants all young women to appear pretty—by the way, these were Italian women, pale with blonde or red hair…. Aren’t we done with that sort of fashion representation?
