A new fashion collective is born during COVID-19 in Paris

Tissuni

Marie Beatrice Boyer, a seamstress at Chanel, enlisted the help of others in the French fashion industry to quickly produce face masks as Jessica Testa of The New York Times reported on July 7, 2020.

The collective of haute couture seamstresses was formed to aid with mask making, a simple, humanitarian task. Ms. Boyer named it "Tissuni," (a term that unites two French words, tissu=fabric and uni=united). But by mid-May the collective came up with an open source design for a dress.

Are collectives the future of fashion?
